In school, I always loved science, so medicine was a natural career choice. I wanted a career that challenged me and allowed me to help others. Healthcare accomplishes both goals. Healthcare providers sometimes see people at their most vulnerable, and I strive to be a good listener and reliable partner, no matter what my patient is dealing with. \n My approach to healthcare is to provide relief as quickly as possible. Then, I want to identify the cause, treat it and help patients prevent a recurrence, if possible. \n Patient education is an important part of my job, and I love taking time to help patients understand their diagnosis, why I recommend the treatments I do and any lifestyle modifications they can make to reach their health goals. \n As a former operating room (OR) nurse, I can help surgical patients prepare, anticipate what to expect after surgery and help calm their fears. I can also explain what will happen in the OR, since I may have witnessed firsthand what their surgery will entail. \n My wonderful husband and I have three beautiful children. We're active in our church, and we love to travel - especially if the beach is our destination.
